The John Deere 4960 was made from 1992 to 1994 and filled the gap until the introduction of the 8100, 8200, 8300 and 8400. The 4960 had the same horsepower as its predecessor the 4955.

The Precision 4960 was the last of the models released in the Precision Key series. Dealers were awarded a gold version of this tractor for reaching purchasing goals.
